We Are the New Indentured Servants

(Warning — not educational nor informative. This is a rant. I repeat, a rant.)

What we have is a refrigerator of rotten food that needs to be thrown out. But because of our collective ignorance and our crippling fear of change, we’ve decided that instead of throwing out all of the rotten food, we’d just heat it up, sprinkle a ton of seasoning on it, and then balk at how delicious this cooked meal looks. Then later, we wonder why we are getting food poisoning after eating it.

So what exactly is the real-world equivalent of this rotten food I’m speaking of?

The American Political System and its Trusty Steed — The Mainstream News Media

Both the media and the political system are reliant upon one another to cook for us what appears to be a lavish meal, and OF COURSE, it needs to appear this way in order for the populous to eat it. Disorient the American people with lies, half-truths, bipartisanship, and glittering platitudes, and you’ll forge an entire nation of people who are happy to lap up propaganda and the nefarious hegemonic conditioning that comes pre-packaged with it.

It sure is a tried and true way to mask an entire population’s eyes to the frightening truth, which is:

We have been indoctrinated into an Indentured Servitude Paradigm

In other words, the overwhelming majority of us are modern-day slaves. If you don’t agree, that’s fine. But please watch this video before making an attempt to shame me or prove me wrong. Or by all means, shame me. Or write an angry comment proving me wrong. It’s up to you. To make your life easier, begin watching at 45:00.

We are too prideful and intellectually lazy as Americans to understand let alone come to terms with the fact that we are being treated like cattle. Good old fashioned Stockholm Syndrome at its finest.

Revere the Greats, But Don’t Use Them as Excuses to Tout Baseless Platitudes

Presidents like Thomas Jefferson as well as his accompanying founding fathers, and Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, and many more fought for our right to discuss such matters as these without having our heads chopped off.

They should be celebrated!

But we shouldn’t act as if we owe our lives to the CURRENT system which is not representative of these heroes but an off-brand re-imagination of what they INTENDED. And even what they intended wasn’t perfect, nor should it be perceived as such.

Rather, we should do as THEY did and seek to educate ourselves enough to bring all this darkness to light and eradicate it.

Heed Their Warning

Martin Luther King, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, James Baldwin, and many others unmentioned in this rant have warned us about what is to come. But time and time again, we turn a blind eye to their warnings and go about our days toiling away at our 9 to 5s, complacent in a system that is simply breeding misery and causing suicide rates to skyrocket.

There comes a point to which the level of the insidiousness of a social and economic system becomes wholly unnecessary and downright comedic in its outrageousness. That’s what we’re looking at here. It further boggles my mind how a country with a collective consciousness that touts such platitudes as “Freedom” is incapable of seeing just how unfree it truly is.

But no, forget freedom, let’s add more fuel to this ticking time bomb by living vicariously through our local sports teams with our 65-inch flat-screen TVs, delude ourselves by eating fat-free popcorn and watch the Bills hammer away at the Superbowl.

I’m laughing so hard I’m crying, but don’t be fooled. If you look closely, the tears smacking the pavement are of a dense dark quality. They are liquified pain.
